London Plan, Camberley Interview Plan & Script First Draft Finished

Today we had another long skype call to get more work sorted. First on the agenda was sorting out Travel for next week's shoot dates.

Wednesday we would be in London and Thursday we would be in Camberley which is just west on london outside the M25. These are the two days that need the most planning as they are the ones with long travel necessary. Our other three days are based in and around Maidstone so we will start planning those days tomorrow.

Firstly London, which is a bit of a maze because we want to visit our seven locations but they all are a little dotted about over London. Here is the schedule that I did by myself and then relayed to the group as they where still working on their parts of the script.

Location 1: Battersea power station (Take a National rail train from London Victoria to Battersea Park station)
Location 2: Stratford (Take National rail from Battersea Park to London Victoria and then get the District line to Bow Road and then get the DLR from Bow Church to Stratford)
Location 3: London City Airport (Take DLR from Stratford to King George V DLR Station and walk to filming location)
Location 4: Ontario Tower (Take DLR from King George V to East India DLR and walk to Tower)
Location 5: Canary Wharf (Walk from Ontario Tower to Canary Wharf)
Location 6: The Gherkin and Lloyds building (Take Jubilee or Northern Line from Canary Wharf to Bank)
Location 7: Cardinal Place (Walk from the Gherkin to Canon St and get the Circle or District line to London Victoria and walk)

I spent time on this route so I hope it saves time on the day as it is most likely we would be in a rush as we have so many locations that we want to visit and film. I have also paid for train tickets for myself, Cailan and George to save time on the day, however Andrew could not commit to filming right now so we did not get him a train ticket) We all will get to London for 10:30am giving us ample time to record and hopefully we will be heading back around 6pm.

Secondly we planned Camberley, This is for our interview with Ajay who will talk to us about his experiences with electric cars. This in a way is slightly harder than getting to London as travel around the M25 can be very unpredictable. We have the interview with Ajay at 11am meaning we want to hit the road at 8am incase we have mega delays on the M25. The plan for myself and Andrew is to get to George's for 8am so we can leave as soon as possible and then collect Cailan at around 8:45 all being well from Redhill station. Then after we are all in the car we will travel to Camberley and have enough time to set up and prepare for the live interview. Andrew also said that he would have to confirm if he could do this day as well so we hope to have a clear answer tomorrow.

Script Finalization
After we got into the group skype call we got started on the script and we kept working on it as we got on to other topics including the travel to London and Camberley. We have now got to a very good stage with it, whilst of course it will still need changing it is now a complete script which is the most important thing. We split it up into four parts so we could focus on that and Google Docs enabled us to all work on the script at the same time.

OOV
Alex - ”Before we find out the cost efficiency of an electric car, we first need to find out how much the same journey would cost in a petrol car.”
PTC (MLS Alex Next To Car)
Alex - “This is a typical fossil fuelled car, it is what the majority of us use day to day to get around. How much does it actually cost in petrol for a 30 mile journey?  Unfortunately such a test can not be completed by a mere mortal, we have to hand over to our test driver. Some say…. oi you didn’t let me even finish the sentence…”
PTC (“Alex” getting into car and sitting down)

B-ROLL Of Route?
Alex - “I hope they won’t notice…
Today we are going to do a 30 mile round trip in this car and calculate how much it costs for that journey. After the trip we will be talking to an electric car dealership in how much this same journey would cost in an electric car.”
PTC Alex in Car

Alex - “Typically I get 39 mpg in this car which means this journey would cost around £6 normally but with a crew and kit in the car it could well be more.”
PTC Alex in car

Alex - “I think the biggest misconception of  electric cars is that they could not be used as a daily driver because of their small range. However Tesla’s Latest model S has a potential range of 335 miles, more realistically though it would have a range of 300 miles. However in comparison to this car which has a max range of 280 miles.”
PTC Alex in car

B-ROLL of Renault TWINGO
Alex - “So that stops that argument about range restrictions, but the cost of electric cars is extravagant. The cheapest Electric car on the road is The Renault Twizy, however that is hard to class as a car… well.”

PTC Alex in car

B-ROLL OF Renault Zoe

Alex - “The cheapest actual electric car is the Renault Zoe, which is £18,500. However after the government's £4,500 Grant it is actually a reasonable £14,000 price tag.”
PTC Alex in car

B-ROLL of car on the road
Sources:
Alex - “However you must have to consider that you will need a charger fitted at home which won’t be cheap, starting at £500. However if you compare it to this car, 10,000 miles in this will cost you around £1,400 in petrol. To charge an electric car for a year through our research it would cost about £600 for 10,000 miles, but this does depend on make and model.”
PTC Alex in car

B-ROLL of car on the road
Alex - “Right, so we are nearing the end of this test, let’s see how much fuel has been used…”
PTC Out of car
Alex - “So after analysing fuel statistics we have seen that on this 30 mile journey my car has used (x) amount of fuel. This would cost around (x) amount of money if you where to get (x) amount of fuel at the pump. So now that begs the question, how much would a similarly sized electric car cost run that same journey?
